There is an Asian supermarket in Honolulu… wait, no, there are many Asian super/markets in Honolulu. Today, I wanted to share the strange candy I found in Marukai Marketplace.
All of the strange flavors of familiar candy, like Oreo’s, get me really curious and excited at first. Then I realize it’s all artificial flavoring, which makes me sad.
There were cheesecake Kit-Kat, which sound… interesting.
There were also strawberry. Has anyone tried these?
Actually, a few weeks later, one of my yoga students gave me these four mini Kit-Kat, in weird flavors. This was perfect for a taste-test! They were all white once I opened them up, which I didn’t expect, but actually that’s better than artificial coloring. The cheesecake tasted like cheesecake, not super-cheesy, like a very mild cream cheese. The blueberry and strawberry tasted just like those flavors. The wasabi, I have to admit, I put off tasting for a long while. Finally, for the sake of this post (you’re welcome!) I opened it up and took a bite.
The first bite actually didn’t taste like anything other than white chocolate Kit-Kat. Then, with the next bite, it kicked in. Luckily, it wasn’t very spicy. It was like a super mild white chocolate wasabi Kit-Kat. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t choose to eat it again.
Kiyo and I couldn’t help ourselves, we left with some goodies! Most of the packaged things are pretty bad for us, but we almost never buy these things so I think it’s ok (moderation, always).
I liked this hilarious dish towel. Mother Knows Best!
This shirt was super cute too, wish I knew a little kid to get it for!
